Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs

Written by DJ Riz Entertainment | Oct 15, 2018 1:00:00 PM

As experts in the world of wedding music, it's no surprise that our brides and grooms appreciate our wealth of knowledge and experience with various genres. Indian wedding couples naturally turn to us for guidance on selecting the perfect tunes for their special moments. Our DJ services are in high demand, with half of our weddings featuring both the bride and groom of South Asian descent (Hindu, Christian, or Muslim), and the other half being fusion weddings with a mix of cultural backgrounds.

We've come a long way since our first Indian wedding in 1994, and now boast a talented team of 12 DJs who travel the world creating unforgettable memories for couples. We are truly grateful to do what we love and love what we do, having earned the trust of thousands of couples for their most important day. That's why we've dedicated ourselves to helping couples at every step of their wedding journey, from the engagement to the ceremony to the reception. The first part of our blogs focused on Venues, followed by Vendors, and now it's time for Music.

When the couple leaves the mandap it signifies the bride leaving her home and moving to the groom's house. This could be 5 minutes from your parents' house, across the globe, or you could be staying in the same house you were living in last week. One thing remains the same, crying, and lots of it. This is one of the parts that really puts everyone in their feels, even us. It was always super sad music that made you want to cry. Modern brides have decided to use happier songs to make their vidai (bidai if you are from North India) quicker and with a lot less crying. This made us feel so much better to see tears of joy from the parents and appreciation of parents from the bride.

When coming up with the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs, we based it on the following:

  • Although some brides are leaving the ballroom using instrumental music, most still plan on leaving to songs with words. This blog only focuses on Hindi/Punjabi music that is either in Bollywood music or covers of songs.
  • We have seen many brides either use these songs or consider using these songs.
  • We wanted to give you many options so you can use the best one for you and ignore the ones that don't make sense for you.
  • We have put together this list with a mix of happy and emotional songs but both make sense lyrically.
  • Focus on listening to the song and not watching the video. Don't overlook the perfect song because you don't like the video. No one will see the video, they will all be watching you.

The following Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs are ranked based on what we have seen used most often within the last few years.

Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs

1)  Kabira (Encore) - Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani

This soulful song deserves the top spot on the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list. Since its release in 2013, it has become a popular choice among brides for their vidai ceremony. The Encore version, sung by Harshdeep and Arijit Singh, is the preferred choice among most brides today. Want to listen to all these amazing songs on a playlist? Simply fill out the form on this page and we'll send it straight to your inbox. If you are looking for entrance songs without words, check out our instrumental ceremony entrance blog.

2) Kehta Hai Baabul - Baabul

If you think this song is a downer, just wait until you hear the other tracks on this list. However, back in 2006, we couldn't wait to recommend it to brides. Before the release of Yeh Jawaani Hai Deewani, this was the go-to option. The Baabul soundtrack features two versions of this song, one by Jagjit Singh and the other by Amitabh Bachchan. Honestly, the Jagjit version sounds superior, but since most dads adore Amitabh Bachchan, it was used more frequently. If your dad is a fan of Amitabh, selecting this song would undoubtedly make his day. Fill out the form on this page, and we'll email you a playlist with all the songs. If you are looking for entrance songs with words, check out our ceremony entrance blog.

3) Babul Ki Duayen Leti Ja - Neel Kamal

If we were ranking the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list based on the past five decades, this song would undoubtedly take the top spot. However, we're grateful that brides have decided to take a different direction over time. For those whose parents tied the knot in the '70s, this song was likely played at their wedding. The moment it starts playing, we can't help but think of brides shedding tears. If you want to gain some insight into what mattered then versus now, play this song for your parents and ask them about their big day.

4) Ye Betiyan To Babul Ki - Na Tum Jaano Na Hum

For those seeking a unique and fresh option for their Vidai song, consider "Ye Betiyan To Babul Ki" from the lesser-known movie "Na Tum Jaano Na Hum." Jaspinder Narula's Punjabi-infused vocals add a special flavor to this song, and its meaningful lyrics make it a great choice for any bride. Plus, it's a departure from the more commonly used Vidai songs that may have been played at your parents' wedding. If you need a song for the grooms entrance, check out our blog.

5) Heer - Jab Tak Hai Jaan

The soulful melody of "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" sung by Harshdeep Kaur and composed by the legendary A.R. Rahman has been a popular choice for vidai ceremonies since its release in 2012. Although not as frequently used as before, this forgotten gem is expected to make a comeback and become a top choice for brides once again. Don't miss out on adding it to your playlist. 6) Dilbaro - Raazi

Harshdeep Kaur's soulful voice has graced the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list for the third time, establishing her as a go-to Bollywood singer for brides. The newest addition to our list, Dilbaro from Raazi, has yet to be used frequently for Vidai ceremonies, but we predict it won't stay that way for long. This emotional track is sure to climb to the top of every bride's playlist in the coming years. 7) Madhaniya – Neha Bhasin

Madhaniya, a Punjabi Folk Vidai song rendition by Neha Bhasin, is one of the five songs on the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list that is not from a Bollywood movie. Initially, we thought it would be perfect for our Hindu Punjabi brides, but to our surprise, one of our Gujarati brides recently used it and it was a hit. We're excited to share this hidden gem with you and hope it adds a unique touch to your wedding. Fill out the form on this page, and we'll send you an email with all the songs on our playlist.

8) Ladki - Coke Studio

Coke Studio's "Ladki" is a rare gem that made it to our Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list. If you haven't heard of Coke Studio yet, you're missing out on an intimate concert with some of your favorite artists. Featuring a mix of Bollywood acoustic covers and original melodious songs, "Ladki" has a Gujarati folk feel to it that resonates with our Gujarati Hindu brides. With its growing popularity, we won't be surprised if it gets remade in Bollywood someday.

9) Chal Le Chal by Deevangi Chopra

The Wedding Filmer, an exceptional video company from India, crafted this song. Several videographers have refrained from using popular music in their video edits due to copyright concerns, but The Wedding Filmer decided to create their own songs and covers for their videos. We've had numerous brides request these songs, and that's how we became acquainted with them. Thanks to our partnership with them, they've sent us audio versions of their unreleased songs. 10) Laadli by AR Rahman and Lata Mangeshkar

Impress your mom by choosing a Vidai song by legendary singer Lata Mangeshkar. And if she hasn't heard it before (which is highly likely), introduce it to her and watch her heart melt. This hidden gem is one of our top picks from the Top 11 Indian Wedding Vidai Songs list. If you decide to use any of these songs, don't forget to share your experience with us by sending an email or posting on our social media pages.
