Written by DJ Riz Entertainment | Jul 1, 2019 1:30:00 PM

Over the past 25 years, we have worked with thousands of amazing couples across the world. Recently we have seen many couples spend a lot of time, effort and energy trying to figure out what songs they need. Across the world we have seen Indian weddings online and in person that might've really benefited from this blog. Although we can't help them, we would like to help you in your music planning process. We have some great suggestions that will make everything smoother and better.

When making this blog we kept our Muslim couples in mind. Most of the Muslim weddings we DJ are with both the bride and groom being the same religion. Some of the weddings we do are mixed or fusion weddings where one person is Muslim and the other is not South Asian (White, Black, Hispanic or Asian). A few weddings each year will have an Muslim person marrying another a person that is South Asian but is from a different religion (Hindu or Christian).

10 songs you need for an Muslim Wedding Weekend Notes:

  • This will cover what most couples will need
  • The music suggestions reflect many of the couples taste (but not all).
  • This should help you figure out what you need and like

10 songs you need for an Muslim Wedding Weekend are placed in order of when it happens

Here is a short 1 minute video of a few of the hundreds of Muslim weddings we have been a part of. We keep things classy and fun.

1) The Mehndi Entrance - Bride

Mehndi is the most fun night at Muslim weddings. Its close friends and family. People are relaxed and ready to have a good time. Usually all the performances and most of the open dancing happens on this day. All the guests can get mehndi done this day. Check out our blog for great mehndi artists. You need to start the night off with a bang. Find the perfect song on our blog for the brides mehndi entrance. Fill out the form on this page and we will send you one suggestion for all of the songs you need just in case you can't figure out what you like or just want someone to pick something good for you.

2) The Mehndi Entrance - Groom

Shortly after the bride makes her entrance, its time for the groom to make an entrance with his friends and family. This night usually has mostly South Asian music played. Its natural to have all the entrances be South Asian. If you want something different, you should do it. Here is our blog that shows what most grooms use as an entrance song for their mehndi.

3) Shaadi Entrance - Groom

The shaadi is usually the most classy and elegant event of the weekend. This is when the actual Nikka takes place. Throughout the event you'll hear either instrumental music most of the time or normal music occasionally. Here are some suggestions for the groom entrance that are upbeat. If you want classy pick one of these. Some families are starting to combine the Mehndi and Shaadi together.

4) Shaadi Entrance - Bride

The brides entrance into the shaadi is one of the highlights of the evening. Here are some song suggestions to go with the anticipated moment.

5) First Dance

Most weddings with both sides being Muslim, won't have first dances. Some of them still have it. All of our mixed or fusion weddings will have it. Here are some suggestions for first dance songs. We also have a great blog that helps couples plan their sequence of events. If you think, this is something that can help you make things run smoother, check it out here. There is a lot of great suggestions in this blog. Pick a song and plan on dancing for 2 to 3 minutes and not the entire song. If you are starting to feel overwhelmed with music choices, fill out the form on this page, and we will send you 1 suggestion for each of these categories. Also check out this video to see how we make first dances even more epic!

6) Cake cutting

For some reason, many couples forget to pick this song. The advice that we usually give them, is to pick the song you were debating between for your first dance. Here are our suggestions

7) Dancing with your parents

Father/Daughter Dance Let him know how much you love him and what he means to you. Some brides will even slow dance for a while and transition into a fun dance song.

Mother/Son Dance A great time to tell your mom thanks for everything she has done for you in your life and this weekend.

Some couples choose to combine them but its better to keep them separate so the photo/video teams can capture it correctly. Most people will dance for 60-90 seconds. Check out these blogs in case you need a photographer or videographer

8) Ruksati

Hands down, the absolute worst part of our job. Worse than sleepless nights. Worse than missing occasions with our loved ones. Worse than being hungry and not being able to get food. Worse than being outside for a wedding in the cold or heat. As a good DJ, you want to see people celebrate and have the best time of their life. Making people cry isn't what we signed up for. But it's a part of the job, and we will do whatever it takes. Here are some suggestions to help with the tears. On a side note, make sure you end earlier in the night so your photo/video teams can capture it. If you need a DJ for your wedding, reach out to us here

9) Valima Entrance - Groom

A Valima is the reception from the groom's side. Some families are opting to host a combined reception from both sides. It's a great idea if the number of people you have attending can be comfortably accommodated at the venue you love. If you are still looking for a venue, check out this blog. Here are some suggestions for the grooms valima entrance

10) Valima Entrance - Bride

This is the last song you need to pick out for your wedding weekend. We have you covered on this also. If you want to enter on something instrumental or a song with words.
